What to expect from your Clay Bar Treatment
Tree sap, traffic film, industrial fallout and other small particles can cling to paintwork even after the vehicle has been washed. Clay treatment is intended to remove suitable bonded contaminants so the surface feels smoother and is better prepared for polishing or protection.
Preparing the surface
Clay treatment starts with a clean surface, so loose dirt is removed before treating bonded contamination.
- Exterior pre-wash and hand wash to clear surface dirt.
- Visual and tactile assessment of paintwork for bonded deposits.
- Suitable painted surfaces, glass and lights treated using lubricated clay where appropriate.
Decontamination and finish
The treatment targets contamination sitting on the surface rather than scratches within the paint.
- Careful removal of suitable bonded particles such as fallout, traffic contamination and tar-like deposits.
- Final wipe-down to leave treated areas clean and smooth.
- A prepared surface for any separately agreed polishing, waxing or protection.
Is this the right service for my car?
Best for paint that feels gritty or rough after a wash, for cars exposed to roadside fallout, or before a separate polishing or protection service.
Timing, pricing and results
Clay treatment does not correct scratches or guarantee removal of every contaminant. Allow around 45–90 minutes, depending on the vehicle. The treatment costs £80 when added to a Standard or Premium Valet.
Before your appointment
Let us know about recent paint repairs, protective coatings or fragile finishes before requesting clay bar treatment. We will consider the surface condition and whether this add-on is suitable with your Standard or Premium Valet.
